This guide shall run you through the process which should be carried out in order to gracefully shut down a Curator system.
Running through this process will allow the servers to be taken offline and shut down so that server maintenance can take place.
To begin navigate to Process Engine Monitor and take a screenshot of all present Executing Workflows (These are marked with a yellow indicator).
Make sure that all Workflows are cancelled prior to beginning the shutdown procedure of Curator. This can be done by clicking on Cancel on the right side of the screen while within Process Engine Monitor.
Once all Executing Workflows have been canceled or come to a stop, navigate to Windows Services on the respective Process Engine Server,
and stop the IPV Process Engine Service.
Once Process Engine has been stopped, browse to the Device Director Website, and ensure that all jobs have stopped or been completed.
To do this, on the Device Director website, select the 'Jobs' tab, next, using the filter options, select State: Starting, then hit filter.
This will display all jobs that are being processed (if any) these will be symbolized with a yellow traffic light.
Next, it's worth checking the State: Queued
Again this will show all the queued jobs remaining, symbolized by an orange traffic light.
The queued jobs will begin to process once there is a device available, so these will eventually move into the 'started' state.
before stopping the Device Director Service we need to ensure there are no started or queued jobs remaining.
On their respective servers from the Windows Services tab, right-click on the following services and press Stop on the next two following services.
- IPV Device Director Service
- IPV Curator Server
Confirm that both services have been stopped by checking that they’re not running in the Windows Services section.
The Curator servers can now safely be restarted or shut down to begin maintenance as required.
Startup Process
To begin the start-up process, Once the servers are back online, navigate to the Windows Services section where the relevant Curator services reside.
Ensure that all of the following applicable IPV services have started back up since the shutdown.
(Note: You may not have every single service installed on your system)
- IPV Curator Server
- IPV Device Director Service
- IPV Process Engine Agent
- IPV Curator Media Agent
- IPV XChange Manager Service
- IPV License Manager Service
- IPV Analytics Service (if applicable)
- IPV Terragator Service (if applicable)
- IPV XCode Service
- IPV Xfer Agent
Confirm that all the IPV services are Running in Windows Services.
If some services have not started automatically, you may need to start them manually.
Navigate to Process Engine Monitor and validate if all Workflows from the screenshot taken in are in an Executing state.
Navigate to Device Director and click on Devices.
Validate that all the Device Director services/hosts are online by checking if they have a green tick on the left side of the service.
That last remaining step is to test ingest, to finally ensure that the system is correctly back online, we suggest running an ingest which will confirm the Curator system is fully functional, provided the ingest is successful, your system is now back online.
