Learn more here about Productions in Premiere Pro and Effects and how they relate to Adobe Projects and Productions in Curator
Curator Productions serve two purposes.
- The Adobe Project file including bin structure, bin location reference to assets, sequences and workspace layout
- A collection of assets
How do I know the difference between a collection and a Production (Adobe project)?
A collection in Curator will look like this:
The collection icon will be displayed in the thumbnail.
A production in Curator will look like this:
A production will contain the collection icon together with the adobe software logo and project extension in the thumbnail.
- Once a production has been opened in your Adobe software via the Adobe panel, your Adobe software will now have the production open as an Adobe Project.
- Opening a production from the Adobe Panel to use the Adobe Project in your Adobe software does not import the assets contained in the collection of the production. The Collection of the Production would have to be imported separately.
Usage tips for editing in Curator via Premiere Pro or After Effects:
Editors and teams have two options for managing the way their assets import into the Adobe Project in Premiere Pro and After Effects:
- Category import - This imports assets which will be managed in a library amongst multiple categories of collections or locations in your Curator.
- Production import - This compiles the assets required for your edit into your collection of the production and imports your assets from there.
- The intention for preparing Production import in Clip Link is that an Adobe project can be pre-prepared for an edit with all of the assets including clips, sub-clips and bookmarks with notes, audio and images compiled all into one collection
Example:
Category Import and project use
- Create a production in Clip Link or the Adobe Panel.
- Create a new Project in Adobe of the same name as the Production formerly created.
- Check-out the Production from the Curator Panel.
- Import assets from one/many library collections in your Curator.
- Work on your project.
- When you have finished working on your edit: Check in your production from the Adobe Panel.
- *When ready to work on later: *Check out your production from the Adobe Panel
- Select the assets in the Adobe Project that you need for editing or/and select in the Adobe Panel ‘Connect all or selected’ to Proxy or Hi-Res.
