"I’ve imported assets to my project. What is 'connect assets’ and why do I need to connect my assets?" We hear you ask.

Why/when would we need to connect an asset?

Reimagine editing.

  • Local editing = Editing with assets stored from your a system’s file path
  • Remote editing = Editing with assets being streamed into your project that are stored Curator
    • Curator in Adobe
  • Curator is your library - IPV’s advice is to only connect assets into your project that you are using for an edit or in a sequence and not utilise Adobe softwares as an asset library. Let Curator be your asset library.
  • Connect what you need - If you open (check out) an Adobe project (production) with assets disconnected then you’ll need to connect the asset to Curator.

What is connecting an asset?

When working with a Curator Production, it may include hundreds or even thousands of Curator assets. Naturally, importing each asset and linking them to Curator proxies for playback in your Adobe bin can take some time. The Connect and Disconnect options help streamline this process by allowing users to selectively connect only certain assets to their proxies, rather than all of them.

This feature can be a major time-saver, especially if a project contains assets that are not part of the same sequence or if playback is only needed for specific assets. Alternatively, users also have the option to connect all assets for playback or disconnect them entirely when playback is not needed.
