Curator Logger allows you to quickly create logs against assets in Curator. Metadata added through logs will be immediately searchable in Curator Clip Link.

Logger is great for anyone who needs to speed up their logging process. You can even use it to see logs appear live on material that’s being edited.

Finding assets

Assets can be found in Curator Clip Link by using the search. You will be directed to Curator Clip Link when attempting to search for assets in Logger:

Once you have found an asset you would like to open, right-click on it and select Open with > Curator Logger from the list of available options to open it directly in Logger.

Logging assets

Markers below the video player can be used to mark an in and outpoint. Add the data you want to log by selecting relevant information using the buttons and drop-down menus on the right.

Marking inpoints and outpoints allows you to make starting and ending points for selections from the asset. Adjust the player head to the point you want to mark, and then select one of the options to mark that point in the video. The area of the video you have selected will appear directly above the video player as a green segment.

Inpoints and outpoints can be altered by adjusting this segment in the following ways:

• Dragging and dropping from the centre of the selection area to different points in the video allows you to move the selection area to a different point in the video.
• The arrows to the left and right of the selection area can be dragged to the left or right to extend or shorten the area of the selection.

Once you’ve finished choosing the options you need, click Save to create your log. A green circle will appear on the Clipmarks tab to show that your new log has been created successfully.

If you want to log a term that isn’t listed in the predefined options, you can add it using the Description field. Simply type in the term you need and press Enter.

If you want to view all of your logs, click on the Clipmarks tab and you’ll see a list of all the logs that have been created. Click on a log to jump to the point where it’s logged. You can also use the search box at the top of the log table to search for specific terms within your logs.

New metadata in Clip Link

If you add metadata using the options already available, you’ll find that the clip you’ve just logged will appear if you select that metadata in Clip Link.

If you add your own metadata tags, you’ll find that the clip is searchable using the terms you’ve added, but it won’t be shown among the terms already listed on the left.
