What is Checking in and Checking out?

A Curator Production is an Adobe Project in Curator. You can work on a Production in Premiere Pro or After Effects. Learn more here on how to benefit from collaborative project use through Curator.

  • Check Out = Opening the Adobe Project from Curator.
  • Check In = Closing the Adobe Project and saving the changes back to Curator.

Some guidance on checking Productions in and out.

  • Productions are stored in and are accessible from Curator only.
  • Checked out Productions can only be used by yourself whilst you have the project open in your Adobe Software. The Project temporarily downloads to your system and is locked to you only.
  • Only one user can check out the same production at a time. This is to ensure smooth and collaborative versioning by making sure any project/edit changes are sequential and do not overwrite each other's work on the same project.
  • The media (asset(s)) inside the project file is not downloaded to your system. The asset(s) are streamed through the Adobe software from Curator between the monitoring window and edit window with your timeline/sequence. For this reason, please ensure you have a steady network connection when working with Curator assets through your Adobe software.
  • After you’ve completed your work on the project, you can save and check the production back in to Curator so that the project can be reviewed by other editors.
Please note that if the Production has not been checked back in, it cannot be checked out for edits by another user.
