Curator version supported from this article: 4.0
Ingesting lets you upload files from your computer, camera card, or drive into Curator, so you can easily manage them as media assets.
This guide will walk you through ingesting individual files, entire folders, or a camera card.
If you need to ingest .mogrt files, your system administrator must ensure that ingest is configured to support .mogrt files.
Select media
Note: You can select Clear at any time during the ingest process to start over.
Open the Curator Connect application installed on your system.
Drag and drop files/folders/camera cards into the drop area. Alternatively, browse for files:
You will be asked to confirm the files you have submitted for ingest.
You are able to deselect one/many files to proceed with.
You are able to drag and drop or browse for more files/folders/camera cards to submit for ingest if you wish to do so at this stage.
When you are ready, select Next.
If you are ingesting a camera card, then Curator Connect will detect the camera card's folder of files and advise which file(s) it will create an asset of.
Example: A typical folder view of multiple files and folders on a camera card when selected for ingest are recognised as five individual files.
Add name
The file name will stay the same in the database and when it becomes a Curator asset. If you want the asset to have a different name, you’ll have the option to rename it.
When ready, select Next:
Add Metadata
For more information on what a destination is, refer to the Ingest (upload) article.
For more information on what a metadata view is, please review Metadata Management.
If you have been provided permission to ingest against one/many Destinations - select one.
The Destination you select will determine what Metadata view you are presented with to submit and tag your preferred metadata to the file at this point of ingest so that the asset has the metadata tagged when you review the asset after ingest.
Submit data into your Metadata and mandatory Metadata fields.
If you have been provided permission, you can add the metadata to a specified folder and/or a new or existing Collection.
NOTE: If you have opted to add the assets to a collection, then:
If a folder has been selected, and a collection by that name already exists within the specified folder, the assets will be added to it.
If no folder has been selected, the collection will be created in the Library folder by default.
If the collection name does not match that of any existing collection, a new collection will be created in the specified folder or (if no folder has been selected) in the Library folder.
When you are ready, select Next:
Confirm
Review the files submitted from the location/source they are being ingested from.
Review the Destination setting where you are converting this file(s) into an asset(s) and the Metadata/folder/Collection details you have submitted where necessary.
When ready, select Confirm.
Once the ingest begins, you are able to queue and ingest more files:
