Ingesting Local Files via Curator for Adobe & Curator Connect

Curator for Adobe now integrates with Curator Connect, enabling users to upload and ingest local assets referenced in a checked-out project directly from the Premiere Pro bin.

Prerequisites

To use this feature, ensure the following are set up:

  1. Your administrator has configured Curator for Adobe Ingest.
  2. You have Curator Connect installed on your local machine.
  3. You have Curator for Adobe installed on your local machine.
  4. Curator Connect is running, either as an open application or minimized in your system tray.

Steps to Ingest Local Files

  1. Open Adobe Premiere Pro and launch the Curator for Adobe extension.

  2. Log into your Curator environment.

  3. Check out a production you want to work on.

  4. With your production open, import any local files you require into it by dragging and dropping them into Premiere Pro's project bin.

  5. Select the Adobe production type logo on the left-hand side of the Curator for Adobe panel.

The display will show the contents of your Adobe bin, including the assets in the production.

  6. From here, open the Actions menu drop-down and select "Scan for local files."
    Scan for Local Files
The system will scan your Adobe bin for any locally stored files and display a list of detected assets.
If there are particular files in the Adobe bin that should not be ingested into Curator you can deselect these within the current menu.
If any camera cards have been included, you will be notified that these have not been included:

From this pop-up, you can select/deselect the files you want to ingest.

  7. Confirm your selection(s) by ticking the checkbox beside the confirmation message and selecting "Upload."

  8. The ingest process will begin, and you can monitor progress from the upload queue.

  9. Once the upload of the asset(s) is complete, the asset(s) will no longer appear in the UPLOAD queue list and will now appear in the INGESTING list with the status "In progress".

At this stage, these asset(s) can be safely saved using Quick save or checked in to release the project to other users, and can be used like any other Curator-managed files. It is now safe to disconnect the session - ingest will continue in the background as the assets are now available to be used in Curator processes.

NOTE: Newly uploaded assets will appear in your project upon reloading it (navigating away from and back to it again).

During ingest, assets will appear in the INGESTING list in the queue with a yellow dot and the status In progress. Once ingest is completed, the yellow dot beside the asset(s) will change to a green dot and their status will change to Completed.

NOTE: Once files are uploaded, other users can check the project out after it has been checked in, but proxies will only become available once the ingest completes.
