Adobe Panel explained

Prev Next

The Curator for Adobe panel allows you to browse and use media stored in Curator directly within your Adobe software, just as you would navigate locally stored media.

From the panel, you can:

  • Search for Curator assets and collections

  • Browse folder structures

  • Preview assets before importing them into your Adobe project (similar to reviewing material in a source monitor)

  • Import assets directly into your project

The navigation experience within Adobe is very similar to Clip Link. If you are unfamiliar with browsing and filtering assets, we recommend reviewing the guides in the Searching for assets section for additional support.

Available panels

There are five Curator Adobe panels available.

This section explains:

  • How to install the extensions

  • How to open the panels within your Adobe workspace

  • The features and functions available in each panel

Below is an example of what the Panel extension looks like when placed in an Adobe workspace:

Curator for Adobe - Premiere Pro and After Effects

When working with Curator in Premiere Pro and After Effects, there are additional panel functions designed specifically to help you move between Curator and your Adobe project.

The Working with Premiere Pro and After Effects articles will guide you through these in detail.

A summary of the key functions in these panels is provided below:

  1. Home - Takes you straight back to the home page from anywhere in the panel.

  2. Folders/Filters - By clicking on the Filter or Folder icons, you can switch between how filter/folder views and narrow down search results by selecting asset types to include/exclude from the display.

  3. Collections and Productions panel - From here you can create, browse through, and manage collections and productions.

  4. Profile and help - Instantly access your profile and available help options.

  5. Export -
    From Premiere Pro, you can:

    • Select a sequence

    • Export to Curator in hi-res or proxy (lo-res)

    • Include metadata as part of the export

Exporting directly to Curator is not supported from After Effects.

To return content to Curator from After Effects:

    • Export the file locally.

    • Ingest the exported asset into Curator.

  6. Import - Select asset(s), collections or folders in Curator and import either the hi-res or proxy (lo-res) version into your Adobe Project.

Curator sub-clips cannot be imported into After Effects.

  7. Connect - After checking out a Production from Curator (with assets previously imported), you may need to reconnect media inside Premiere Pro.

    If assets appear offline:

    1. Select the assets in your Adobe project.

    2. Use the Connect options to:

      • Reconnect to hi-res media

      • Reconnect to proxy (lo-res) media

      • Swap between hi-res and proxy versions

This ensures your Adobe project remains properly linked to the media stored in Curator.

Curator for Adobe - Photoshop and Illustrator

When working with Photoshop and/or Illustrator, the menu functions differ slightly from other Adobe applications.

From here, you can access the following:

  5. Upload - Quickly upload images or assets to Curator directly through the panel from a selected location on your local system.

  6. Place - Import any image asset from Curator as a new layer into the currently active .psd or .ai file open in your Adobe software.

This allows you to work with Curator-managed assets without manually downloading and re-importing files.

  7. Open - Select one or more .psd or .ai assets in Curator and open them directly in Photoshop or Illustrator.

    When opening assets:

    • Files can be locked in Curator to prevent other users from editing simultaneously.

    • You can duplicate the asset to avoid modifying the original.

    • Duplicates can also be used for versioning purposes.

Curator for Adobe panel - Audition

When working with Audition, the menu functions differ slightly yet again from other Adobe applications.

From here, you can access the following:

  3. Collections and Productions panel - From here you can create, browse through, and manage collections and productions.

  4. Profile and help - Instantly access your profile and available help options.

  5. Upload - Quickly upload assets to Curator directly through the panel from a selected location on your local system.

  6. Import - Select your asset(s) in Curator and import the hi-res version(s), including any audio tracks, into your Adobe Project.

Proxy import is not possible in Audition.
