Restore

Applications this article relates to: Clip Link

Curator version supported from this article:3.0

When configured, Curator can connect to archival systems to restore high-resolution content, ensuring that files are available for workflows that require direct access. Administrators can restore files directly from Clip Link by selecting the archived assets and using a plugin to perform the restore operation.

During the restoration process, metadata is updated to reflect the restored status, indicating to users that the high-resolution files are now available and accessible via Curator Services. This is typically shown using metadata fields such as Archive: False/True and HiResPath: PathToFile/Removed. Users should be aware that once restored, files will be available in storage for any necessary workflows.

Where configured, some workflows may restore assets automatically in order to carry out a task requested by a user, such as a delivery workflow or an Adobe export.

When using Curator for Adobe, users can switch between using proxy files or high-resolution files. If the high-resolution files are unavailable because they are archived, and the system is configured to support it, an option to restore the high-resolution files will be displayed. This allows the user to bring the files back to disk, enabling their use in editing when needed.
