This guide explains each step, though not all of them will apply in every situation. If you need to stop an ingest, you’ll need to contact your **system administrator**, as they have access to the administrator tools required to cancel specific jobs. ### Stopping an ingest 1. Locate the corresponding parent ingest job within the Process Engine Monitor and select **Cancel**. You may also need to cancel any associated child processes. From Curator 4.4, a process can also be given a timeout so that it is cancelled automatically; see [Process timeouts](/docs/process-timeouts). ![image.png](https://cdn.document360.io/c173e68f-0609-4297-9277-0fc5c6b45db7/Images/Setting/i0045-r21.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-26T12%3A13%3A55Z&se=2026-10-26T13%3A13%3A55Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=Z5oqf7051Q%2FtgD5Vkd9jdRk8awOahE6T3sxVT7t5LwQ%3D) 2. Close Curator Connect on the client side (if you are using Watchfolder ingest, you can skip this step). 3. Remove any assets that were created as part of the ingest prior to cancellation by [deleting them](/docs/delete-assets).
