# Restarting an ingest

The steps to restart an ingest process may vary depending on how far the ingest has progressed and which ingest method you are using.

### For **Curator Connect**

- **If no assets have been created and the files are still in their original locations**: An administrator can restart the relevant *“Plug-in – Curator Connect”* process within [Process Engine](/docs/workflow-management-process-engine-explained).
- **If assets have been created or the files have been moved**: Consider removing any created assets from Curator, then run the Curator Connect ingest process again.

### For **XChange Watchfolder Ingest**

- **Files still in the watchfolder, no assets created**: Temporarily remove the files from the [watchfolder](/docs/watchfolders-explained), then re-drop them to trigger a new ingest.
- **Files still in the watchfolder, assets created**: Remove the created assets from Curator, then remove and re-drop the files into the watchfolder.
- **Files no longer in the watchfolder** (regardless of whether assets were created): Remove the created assets from Curator (if any), then re-drop the original files into the watchfolder to restart ingest.
