Checking out a production opens its Adobe project file in your Adobe software so you can work on it, then [check it back in](/docs/close-check-in-an-adobe-project-production) to save it to Curator. #### How do I check out a Production? 1. [Locate and select the Production](/docs/search-for-a-production-and-project-contents). 2. Select **Actions** > **Check-out**. ![check out actions button.png](https://cdn.document360.io/c173e68f-0609-4297-9277-0fc5c6b45db7/Images/Documentation/check%20out%20actions%20button.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-05T20%3A33%3A39Z&se=2026-11-05T21%3A33%3A39Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=gKsruuAcxTx1pOHzGLgn8VpsIFNL27RgMWsaGrO0UcU%3D) 3. Check the Adobe Project file in the Production matches and select ‘Check Out’. You also have the option to reveal a list of older saved versions of the Adobe Project in your Production, and check out an older version, if you wish. If you already have a local copy of the project open, you can select **Link local project** instead (see [Link a local Adobe project with a production](/docs/link-a-local-adobe-project-with-a-production)). ![check out process.png](https://cdn.document360.io/c173e68f-0609-4297-9277-0fc5c6b45db7/Images/Documentation/check%20out%20process.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-05T20%3A33%3A39Z&se=2026-11-05T21%3A33%3A39Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=gKsruuAcxTx1pOHzGLgn8VpsIFNL27RgMWsaGrO0UcU%3D) 1. Your Production is checked out. The Adobe project will open in the project bin of your Adobe workspace. The Collections and Productions panel will indicate the Production has been checked out. ![check out project - listed in checked out list.png](https://cdn.document360.io/c173e68f-0609-4297-9277-0fc5c6b45db7/Images/Documentation/check%20out%20project%20-%20listed%20in%20checked%20out%20list.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-05T20%3A33%3A39Z&se=2026-11-05T21%3A33%3A39Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=gKsruuAcxTx1pOHzGLgn8VpsIFNL27RgMWsaGrO0UcU%3D) - Once your project is open, you will likely need to [connect certain assets to a project](/docs/connecting-assets-explained), or the assets will read offline in your Adobe software. #### Check out a production with a .mogrt file Once you select ‘check out' and before the project opens in your Adobe software, a dialog box might appear requesting you link media. If this occurs: 1. Close the dialog box 2. The .mogrt in the Adobe project will appear offline in your Adobe software. Select the .mogrt(s) in your Adobe project bin, then [connect the assets](/docs/how-to-connect-assets). 3. The .mogrt should now appear online.
