It is for anyone who uses Clip Link day to day, including editors and loggers. #### Viewing the shortcuts in Clip Link You can see the shortcuts available to you directly in Clip Link. Select the keyboard shortcuts icon in the taskbar at the bottom left of the screen, just above the help icon. ![The Keyboard Shortcuts panel in Clip Link 4.4, showing asset, logging and player controls](https://cdn.document360.io/c173e68f-0609-4297-9277-0fc5c6b45db7/Images/Setting/cliplink-keyboard-shortcuts-44.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-26T11%3A19%3A44Z&se=2026-10-26T12%3A19%3A44Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=qVAUZKtDw441uTb2FfkY6QH9zhbQovaZtPem33fVXuY%3D) The list changes depending on where you are: - In a search tab, you see the shortcuts for selecting and reviewing assets. - In an asset tab, you also see the shortcuts for moving between sub-clips. - If logging is enabled and you have the logging role, you also see a **Logging controls** section. > **Note:** On a Mac, use **Option** wherever this article says **Alt**, and **Cmd** wherever it says **Ctrl/Cmd**. #### Player control shortcuts With an asset open, you can use these [player control](/docs/player-controls) shortcuts: | Shortcut | Action | | --- | --- | | **Space** or **K** | Play / pause | | **Ctrl + 5** | Play / pause (only works with 3 or fewer browser tabs open) | | **Shift + Space** | Reverse motion | | **Alt + \** or **Option + \** | Play at normal speed from paused | | **L** | Forward motion; tap again to increase the speed | | **K** held down + **L** | Frame step forward | | **J** | Backward motion; tap again to increase the speed | | **K** held down + **J** | Frame step backward | | **Right arrow** | Frame step forward | | **Left arrow** | Frame step backward | | **Down arrow** | Go to the start of the next scene | | **Up arrow** | Go to the start of the previous scene | | **Shift + K** | Go to the start of the next scene | | **Alt + K** | Go to the start of the previous scene | | **I** | Mark in-point | | **Shift + I** | Go to marked in-point | | **O** | Mark out-point | | **Shift + O** | Go to marked out-point | | **B** or **M** | Mark bookmark | | **Shift + B** or **Shift + M** | Go to marked bookmark | > **Note:** The up and down arrow keys always move between scenes in the player. To step through the sub-clips in the side panel, use **Alt + S** and **Alt + A** (see below) or the up and down arrows beside the sub-clip name on screen. #### Moving between sub-clips When an asset is open in its own tab, you can move through its [sub-clips](/docs/sub-clips-explained) from the keyboard. These shortcuts work whether or not you are logging. | Shortcut | Action | | --- | --- | | **Alt + S** | Load the next sub-clip | | **Alt + A** | Load the previous sub-clip | #### Logging shortcuts **Available from Curator 4.1.** In Curator 4.1, logging moved into Clip Link. When you [log an asset](/docs/logging-an-asset), the logging view opens to the right of the player, and you can use these shortcuts to log quickly without using the mouse. They appear in the keyboard shortcuts panel under **Logging controls** when logging is enabled on your system and you have the logging role. | Shortcut | Action | | --- | --- | | **Ctrl + Enter** (**Control + Enter** on a Mac, not Cmd) | Save (when the **Save** button is enabled) | | **Alt + C** | Clear | | **Alt + W** | Move to the next field | | **Alt + Q** | Move to the previous field | | **Alt + X** | Load the next selected asset | | **Alt + Z** | Load the previous selected asset | | **Esc** | Leave the field you are typing in | When you move between fields: - The cursor goes to the first part of the field. For example, it goes into a text box, or onto the first button in a button grid. - Disabled fields are skipped. - If no field is selected, the first field is selected. - From the last field, **Alt + W** goes back to the first field. From the first field, **Alt + Q** goes to the last field. > **Note:** While your cursor is in a text field, the keys you press are typed into that field. Press **Esc** to leave the field, then use the logging shortcuts. For more about logging, see [Logging explained](/docs/logging-explained), [Create a sub-clip or bookmark in logging mode](/docs/create-a-sub-clip-or-bookmark-in-logging-mode) and [Sports logging](/docs/sports-logging). #### Reviewing and selecting assets If you need to review several assets, you can use the right, left, up and down arrows to select an asset by stepping through the search results or, when in the list view, stepping up and down the list. The first arrow press selects the first asset in the view. Press **Space** to open the mini preview player for the selected asset in your search results. If you need to select multiple assets (for example, to add them to the [asset manager](/docs/asset-manager), [create a collection](/docs/create-a-collection) or [edit metadata](/docs/edit-asset-metadata) in bulk), you can use common Windows and Mac shortcuts: - Click and drag - **Ctrl/Cmd + click** to select multiple individual clips - **Ctrl/Cmd + A** to select all - **Shift + click** to select a continuous range of clips - **Esc**, or click on the background, to clear the selection #### Selecting and deselecting asset types To narrow down your search results, you can filter by asset type. You can either deselect each asset type in turn, or use **Ctrl/Cmd + click** on an asset type to deselect all asset types other than the one you clicked. Want to search for all asset types again? **Ctrl/Cmd + click** the asset type you're currently filtering by, and Clip Link reselects all the other asset types.
