You can repeat this to create several sub-clips from the same parent timeline. You are also able to change the sub-clip to a [bookmark](/docs/bookmark-management-doc). #### Steps 1. Open your sub-clip from the Asset pane ([Searching and viewing assets](/docs/searching-for-assets)) or the [Asset viewer](/docs/asset-viewer-1). 2. The sub-clip will open and reveal the current marked in and out points. 3. The selection area can be altered by adjusting this segment in the following ways: - Dragging and dropping from the centre of the selection area to different points in the video allows you to move the selection area to a different point in the video. - The arrows to the left and right of the selection area can be dragged to the left or right to extend or shorten the area of the selection. 1. With a sub-clip open, the button at the top right shows **Save changes**: ![The Save changes button, with its drop-down arrow, at the top right of the asset viewer when a sub-clip is open](https://cdn.document360.io/c173e68f-0609-4297-9277-0fc5c6b45db7/Images/Setting/cl-subclip-save-changes-44.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-06T17%3A17%3A20Z&se=2026-11-06T18%3A17%3A20Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=nFa4zlgYI%2F%2B1YtzsZtK1f4PfjM5OK63PdDPV50kpBbk%3D) 2. Select the arrow beside **Save changes** to reveal **Create new**: ![The Save changes drop-down open, showing the Create new option](https://cdn.document360.io/c173e68f-0609-4297-9277-0fc5c6b45db7/Images/Setting/cl-subclip-create-new-44.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-06T17%3A17%3A20Z&se=2026-11-06T18%3A17%3A20Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=nFa4zlgYI%2F%2B1YtzsZtK1f4PfjM5OK63PdDPV50kpBbk%3D) 3. Selecting **Create new** will create an additional sub-clip in the asset library, leaving the original sub-clip unchanged. ![image.png](https://cdn.document360.io/c173e68f-0609-4297-9277-0fc5c6b45db7/Images/Documentation/image%28152%29.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-06T17%3A17%3A20Z&se=2026-11-06T18%3A17%3A20Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=nFa4zlgYI%2F%2B1YtzsZtK1f4PfjM5OK63PdDPV50kpBbk%3D)
