# Create a new bookmark

A [bookmark](/docs/bookmark-management-doc) marks a single timecode point in a media asset, so you can log notes and metadata against that moment.

#### Create a new bookmark

1. Open a video, audio or sub-clip asset in the [Asset viewer](/docs/asset-viewer-1).
2. Move the playhead to the point you want to mark, then select the **Bookmark** icon in the [player controls](/docs/player-controls), bottom right of the player.

3. At the top right, select **Create bookmark**.

4. Your bookmark is created and an on-screen notification confirms it.

You can find the new bookmark in the **Sub-Clips** panel of the parent asset, or [search](/docs/searching-for-assets) for it.
