Administrators can archive files directly from Clip Link by selecting assets and using a plugin to archive the chosen files. For how archiving is set up, see [Archive and restore](/docs/archive-and-restore). During the archiving process, metadata is assigned to assets to indicate to users that the high-resolution files are archived and may not be directly accessible via Curator Services. This is typically shown using metadata fields such as `Archive:True/False` and `HiResPath: PathToFile/Removed`. Users should be aware of this, as some workflows may require access to the files in storage to fulfil their requests. ![Archiving selected assets from Clip Link with an archive plugin](https://cdn.document360.io/c173e68f-0609-4297-9277-0fc5c6b45db7/Images/Documentation/image%28779%29.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-06T18%3A41%3A23Z&se=2026-11-06T19%3A41%3A23Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=%2BQloo7Yitl5zBP9wb5pSpcdm2BrxjblnTbC3QBSVLho%3D) #### Restoring archived assets When configured, Curator can restore archived high-resolution content, so the files are available again for workflows that need direct access. Administrators can restore files from within Clip Link by selecting the archived assets and using a plugin to start the restore. During the restore, metadata is updated to show that the high-resolution files are available again through Curator Services, typically using fields such as `Archive:False/True` and `HiResPath: PathToFile/Removed`. Once restored, the files are back in storage and can be used in any workflow. Where configured, some workflows restore assets automatically as part of a request, such as a delivery workflow or an Adobe export. ![A restore request for archived assets in Clip Link](https://cdn.document360.io/c173e68f-0609-4297-9277-0fc5c6b45db7/Images/Documentation/image%28780%29.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-06T18%3A41%3A23Z&se=2026-11-06T19%3A41%3A23Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=%2BQloo7Yitl5zBP9wb5pSpcdm2BrxjblnTbC3QBSVLho%3D) In Curator for Adobe, users can switch between proxy and high-resolution files. If the high-resolution file is unavailable because it has been archived, and the system supports restoring, a message offers a **RESTORE** option to bring the file back to disk for editing. ![The RESTORE option in Curator for Adobe for an archived high-resolution file](https://cdn.document360.io/c173e68f-0609-4297-9277-0fc5c6b45db7/Images/Documentation/image%28781%29.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-06T18%3A41%3A23Z&se=2026-11-06T19%3A41%3A23Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=%2BQloo7Yitl5zBP9wb5pSpcdm2BrxjblnTbC3QBSVLho%3D)
